Hier wurde 1082 Bohemund von Micha\u0113l Dukas angegriffen. Als Suffragan der M\u0113tropolis Larisa erstmals im 11. Jh. belegt. Im Jahre 1250 ein Bischof D\u0113m\u0113trios von Domenikon in einem Synodalschreiben erw\u00e4hnt; aus diesem Schreiben lernen wir auch zwei sonst nicht bekannte und nicht lokalisierbaren Kl\u00f6ster der Di\u00f6zese von Domenikon kennen, das D\u0113m\u0113trios-Kl. mit der Bezeichnung Prokobikos und das Kl. der Theod\u014droi in Krompoi. 1371 nochmals das Bistum Domenikon als Suffragan von \u2192 Elass\u014dn vereint.\r\nMon.: Die Stadtmauer des antiken Chyretiai vermutlich in justinianischer Zeit erneuert (Ausbesserungen mit Bruchstein, Ziegeltr\u00fcmmern und Marmorfragmenten). Von den byz. Kirchen, die Leake erw\u00e4hnt, nichts mehr erhalten. Das von Leake als Kathedrale und von St\u00e4hlin als \u201egro\u00dfe Kirche des H. Georgios\u201c bezeichnet Geb\u00e4ude ist ein kleines t\u00fcrkenzeitliches Kirchlein auf der ehemaligen Akropolis. Den Ortsbewohnern sind fr\u00fchchristliche Katakomben unten der Georgskirche bekannt (nicht zug\u00e4nglich); es handelt sich dabei wohl um die von St\u00e4hlin schon angef\u00fchrten Fundamente eines ehemaligen Asklepiostempels. Von einer byz. Kirche stammt wohl die mittelbyz. Templonplatte aus der Kirche \u03c4\u03c9\u0342\u03bd \u03a0\u03b1\u03bc\u03bc\u03b5\u03b3\u03af\u03c3\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd \u03a4\u03b1\u03b6\u03b9\u03b1\u03c1\u03c7\u03c9\u0342\u03bd in Domenikon."}],
