Die Burg wurde vielleicht erst nach 1204 gebaut, sicher aber vor 1210, da sie zu dem Zeitpunkt bereits den Tempelrittern als Besitz best\u00e4tigt wurde. 1255 Gefangennahme der abtr\u00fcnnigen Dreiherren Eub\u00f6as in Rupo durch Wilhelm von Achaia. Weiterhin wird \u014cr\u014dpos im Zusammenhang mit einem Piraten\u00fcberfall etwa 12786 u. der genues. Pl\u00fcnderung Negropontes Mitte 14. Jh. genannt. Ende des 14. Jh. war die Burg vielleicht verlassen; Erw\u00e4hnung als Sitz alban. R\u00e4uber (Ripo, in quo castro erant certi Albanenses qui disrobant etc.). 1403 versuchte Venedig, in den Besitz der Burg zu gelangen, mu\u00dfte aber 1407 darauf verzichten; sie blieb bei Athen u. ging erst 1460 in t\u00fcrk. Besitz \u00fcber. Die Burg hatte Sichtverbindung mit \u2192 Sykaminon u. mit \u2192 Phylla auf Eub\u00f6a u. war daher f\u00fcr die Verteidigung dieser Insel wichtig.\r\nMon.: Von der Burg keine Reste erhalten, sie lag wahrscheinlich auf dem Doppelh\u00fcgel direkt s. \u00fcber dem alten Dorf. \u2014 Neben in H\u00e4usern wiederverbauter Plastik des 11. u. 12. Jh. sowie wappenverzierten Kapitellen der Frankenzeit waren vor dem Erdbeben von 1938 einige Kirchen gut erhalten: H. Ge\u014drgios, eine kleine dreischiffige Basilika mit halbkreisf\u00f6rmigen Seitenapsiden u. au\u00dfen dreiseitiger Hauptapsis; CHATZEDAKES datiert den Bau aufgrund des reichen Freskenschmuckes an den Anfang des 13. Jh.. In die Frankenzeit geh\u00f6ren die H. Apostoloi, eine einschiffige Basilika mit au\u00dfen dreiseitiger Apsis, in der zahlreiche mittelbyz. Spolien verbaut waren. Weitere Kirchen in \u014cr\u014dpos u. Umgebung, so die Kreuzkuppelkirche Koim\u0113sis Theotoku und die Dachtranseptkirchen II. Nikolaos u. H.
