Zugeh\u00f6riger Hafen d\u00fcrfte damals nicht der von \u014crop\u014ds gewesen sein, sondern vielleicht die etwas westlichere Chalkutsi-Bucht. 1403 versuchte Venedig, in den Besitz der Burg zu gelangen, mu\u00dfte aber 1407 darauf verzichten, da die seit Nerio Acciajuoli zu Athen geh\u00f6rigen Burgen auch von dessen Nachkommen nicht herausgegeben wurden; sie kam erst 1460 in den Besitz der T\u00fcrken. Die Festung hatte wie \u2014 \u014cr\u014dpos f\u00fcr die Verteidigung Eub\u00f6as wegen ihrer Sichtverbindung nach \u2192 Phylla Bedeutung.\r\nMon.: Die Burg ist nicht erhalten, doch ist ihre Lage \u2014 auf einem H\u00fcgel am nw. Ortsrand \u2014 am rechteckigen, eingeebneten Festungsplateau noch auszunehmen. Erhalten sind zwei Kirchen: H. Eleusa auf einer Anh\u00f6he s. des Dorfes, eine einschiffige Kuppelkirche des 11. \u2014 12. Jh., die w\u00e4hrend der Frankenzeit erweitert wurde (K\u00e4stelmauerwerk, die Kuppel \u00e4hnlich den gleichzeitigen Denkm\u00e4lern in Athen), u. im Dorf H. Tessarakonta (Kuppelkirche, Grundri\u00df freies Kreuz) des 13. Jh. Die alte Friedhofskirche (Koim\u0113sis Theotoku) barg in ihrem Mauerwerk zahlreiche Spolien des 11. \u2014 12.
