Nach \u2192 I\u014dannina (1. April 1411) wird Bompliana von Carlo I. Tocco erobert u. eine Besatzung unter Kapsokabad\u0113s dort gelassen. Am 1. Okt. 1416 endet der Albaner Jakub Spata durch einen Hinterhalt der Tocco nach einem Versuch, Bompliana wiederzugewinnen, u. drei Tage sp\u00e4ter f\u00e4llt \u2192 Arta an die Tocco. Der Name vermutlich slaw.\r\n\r\nMon.: Knapp 2 km s. von Kastrion, etwa 1,5km w. von Ammotopos bedeutende Reste einer ummauerten antiken Siedlung. Im s., h\u00f6chsten Teil der Anlage Mauern aus Spolien: Trennmauer mit Bastion nach N zum \u00fcbrigen Areal der antiken Siedlung; nach\r\nO, S u. W Steilabfall u. nur sehr geringe Mauerreste; im Inneren dieses sp\u00e4tma. Festungsbereiches (gr\u00f6\u00dfte Ausdehnung in N\u2014S- u. O\u2014W-Richtung jeweils etwa 40 m) Grundmauern eines quadratischen Turmes aus Spolienquadern. Die Identit\u00e4t dieser\r\nAnlage mit Bompliana durch den bei den Bewohnern von Kastrion noch gel\u00e4ufigen alten Namen Mpliana gesichert. Die strategische Bedeutung der Festung liegt in ihrer Lage an der alten Wegverbindung von Arta nach I\u014dannina. Zudem kontrolliert Bompliana einen bequemen \u00dcbergang nach O in das Tal des Arachthos durch den Pa\u00df zwischen den Bergen Gorgomylos u.
