Jh. wegen seines Fischreichtums u. der Produktion von P\u00f6kelfisch ger\u00fchmt (falls nicht Verwechslung mit dem \u2192 Boib\u0113-See vorliegt). Die Umgebung des Sees in byz. Zeit dicht besiedelt: \u2192 Lebadeia, \u2192 Orchomenos, \u2192 Petromagula, \u2192 Kokkinon, \u2192 Karditsa, \u2192 Haliartos, Topolia, \u2192 Gla, \u2192 H. Marina; jedenfalls d\u00fcrfte der See in sp\u00e4tbyz. Zeit wesentlich kleiner gewesen sein als vor seiner Austrocknung im 19.
