Um 1350 verlie\u00df Athanasios f\u00fcr einige Zeit Thessalien; nach seiner R\u00fcckkehr baute er gemeinsam mit 14 Mitbr\u00fcdern eine S\u014dt\u0113r-Kirche am Gipfelplateau des Platylithos u. richtete ein koinobitisches, sp\u00e4ter Metamorph\u014dsis Sot\u0113ros genanntes Kl. ein. 1359 das Theotokos-Kl. Mete\u014dron auf Bitte des Athanasios von Ant\u014dnios, dem Erzbischof von Larisa, in seinen Rechten best\u00e4tigt. Drei Jahre sp\u00e4ter von Syme\u014dn Uro\u0161 in einer Besitzbest\u00e4tigung f\u00fcr die Sk\u0113t\u0113 t\u014dn Stag\u014dn (\u2192 Dupian\u0113) Mete\u014dron ausdr\u00fccklich ausgenommen. In dieser Best\u00e4tigung auch das Gebiet von Hagia Trias ausgenommen, das wohl als Metochion des Mete\u014dron-Kl. u. als Keimzelle des nachbyz. heutigen Hagia Trias-Kl. angesehen werden kann. Auf Grund des gro\u00dfen Ansehens des Athanasios \u00fcbernahm das Mete\u014dron-Kl. allm\u00e4hlich vom \u2192 Dupian\u0113-Kl. die F\u00fchrungsrolle im M\u00f6nchsgebiet um Stagoi; weiterer Auftrieb durch die engen Bande des ehemaligen serbischen Herrschers I\u014dann\u0113s Uro\u0161 (als M\u00f6nch I\u014dasaph) zu dem Kl., welchem er schon vor dem Tod des Athanasios 1383 vorstand6.1387/1388 vergr\u00f6\u00dferte I\u014dasaph die von Athanasios erbaute S\u014dt\u0113r-Kirche. 1390 gab I\u014dasaph die Zustimmung zur Gr\u00fcndung des Hyps\u0113lotera-K1. (Ruinen auf einem Felsen w. unterhalb des Mete\u014dron-Klosters). Nach einem R\u00fcckschlag in der Entwicklung des M\u00f6nchtums auf den Mete\u014dra-Felsen durch die Invasion der T\u00fcrken 1393 wurde das Mete\u014dron-K1. vom Patriarchen Euthymios (1410\u20141416) aus dem Machtbereich der lokalen Bisch\u00f6fe eximiert; als f\u00fchrendes unter den Mete\u014dra-Kl\u00f6stern auch Mega Mete\u014dron genannt. Die weiteren Kl\u00f6ster lassen sich z. T. nur in der lokalen Tradition auf die sp\u00e4tbyz. Zeit zur\u00fcckf\u00fchren: H. Ant\u014dnios, \u2192 Barlaarn, H. D\u0113m\u0113trios (nicht identisch mit dem sp\u00e4teren D\u0113m\u0113trios-Kl., dessen Ruinen 20 Minuten n. vom Mete\u014dron-Kl. zu sehen sind), H. Ge\u014drgios tu Mand\u0113la, H. Gr\u0113gorios, Halysos, \u2192 Hypapant\u0113, H. Nikolaos Anapausas, H. Nikolaos tu Mpatoba oder Kophina, Pantokrat\u014dr (\u2192 Dupians), H. Pneuma oder Stylos t\u014dn Stag\u014dn, \u2192 H.
